Tollywood Powerstar and Jana Sena party leader Pawan Kalyan slammed the BJP government over the issue of patriotism. He also took an exception to the Supreme Court order, which made playing the national anthem at all cinema theatres in the country, compulsory.
Pawan questioned as to whom he should prove his patriotism. Below is his full statement on Twitter.
“True patriotism will come into experience when an individual or political party goes beyond caste, creed, class, religion, region, ethic n linguistic differences,” he posted on his Twitter page.
“Patriotism cannot be seen through as one party’s perspective or ideals. The meaning of true patriotism is deeply rooted in human value and it’s holistic nature,”
“Even if they want to take such extreme view about their opponents, first let them hear out ..without stifling their voice, then take the needed action. In haste, if they take any action it will only backfire as it did in JNU students sedition case and it was proven that the tape was doctored,”.
“A simple evening to spend time with family and friends to watch a movie has been made into a testing ground to prove one’s patriotism,” he added. “Why not political parties start their meetings with the national anthem, why only cinemas? Why not the highest offices in the country? Those who preach and enforce laws – why don’t they lead us by example?? So they are ‘sign posts’??”.
Earlier a petition was submitted in Supreme Court that National Anthem should be played in courts. However SC rejected that petition and since then they have been facing a lot of criticism.
