Wait for a film with Salman Khan will be shorter this time: Sooraj Barjatya

Salman Khan and Sooraj Barjatya last collaborated for Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. The filmmaker has revealed that he has begun working on a film that will feature Salman.

“There is something in the pipeline with Salman but there is some time for it. I want to do a film with Salman but I have my TV commitments, which are very important,” Sooraj Barjatya said. The filmmaker’s banner Rajshri is returning to television with the show Ek Shringaar – Swabhimaan on Colors.

The filmmaker also said that he is yet to communicate the idea about the movie to Salman as he is still developing it.

“I haven’t spoken to him about it because we are still in the development stage. It takes me a while. My zone is not in a genre which one can call workable. We both want to do something which keeps the values up regardless of the commercial success. That is our struggle,” Sooraj says.

While his earlier films like MPK, Hum Aapke Hai Kaun and HSSH were huge hits, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo was below expectations.

“I wasn’t disappointed with the collections because I was prepared and we know our audiences. The film did really well. Of course if you will compare to Bajrangi Bhaijaan then it falls short. The film did good in small towns but its youth appeal was less,” the director says.

Salman Khan has Tubelight and Tiger Zinda Hai in his kitty and has not signed any other film.

PRDP was a great movie, this is the movie for family not for youngsters, it teach us love between Brother and Sister, and those who think that it was crap movie, means they don’t love their family….And I really feel sorry for them….
Another important thing is in today’s time, when family movies are not even made, PRDP collects huge 215cr in Domestic and 430cr in WW which is a huge success. Also in TV TRP it is right now in TOP Position, which says it all, that it is liked by his target audience which is Family Audience…..

Now those who wants to bark, keep barking….But Numbers and TRP says it all…

  5. I want Salman to work with different directors and step out of the Sooraj-Kabir-Ali circle. But Salman owes Sooraj his career and he has a huge respect and love for him. He will do a movie for him whenever Sooraj wants and I’m fine with that.

  6. sale tu busy nahi bhai busy hai. waise bhi prdp jaisi film layega toh maar khayga, pichli baar toh bhai ke stardom ne film bacha li…..

  7. Salman should work with directos who know the pulse of current audience like Kabir. Suraj knew pulse of 90s audience very well but he has very little idea about today’s audience.
Though a family film with not too drama and and not too lengthy will work wonders even today.
HAHK is his best film till date. It was very much balanced. It had drama, romance, music, fun. It was a perfect blend. HSSH was bit too much dramatic and there were too much characters. Vivah was much better than HSSH. I have not watched PRDP but I am sure it wouldn’t be as good as HAHK otherwise it should have done 400 Cr at least.
Overall speaking I won’t be as much confident about Suraj directed film as I am for Tubelight or TZH. It may underperform like PRDP but at the same time it can do some unthinkable collection at the box office.
