Sequels are considered to be a money making device for commercial cinema for a while. But never has so many sequels been up for release in this quick a succession.

We are going to witness Rock On 2, Tum Bin 2, Force 2 and Kahaani 2 in a span of 21 days. However, sequels are not performing well at the box office recently and it will be tough going for these films too.

With Rock On 2, for release tomorrow, the chain of sequels commence. The film, which stars Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal and Purab Kohli returning to reprise their characters from the prequel, also has Shraddha Kapoor. It will have a limited appeal as the prequel only found appreciation among a particular section of the audience.

Anubhav Sinha will be coming up with his Tum Bin II, a sequel to his debut directorial, ‘Tum Bin,’ next week. However, except from music, it has nothing going in its favor.

It is also set to lock horns with Abhinay Deo’s Force 2. The film is a sequel to Nishikant Kamath’s Force, which starred John Abraham and Genelia D’Souza in the lead roles while introducing Vidyut Jammwal to the world. But this time round, he’ll be joined by Sonakshi Sinha and Tahir Raj Bhasin as the antagonist.

Apart from these November releases, Vidya Balan will be coming up with her Kahaani 2: Rani Durga Singh, on December 3. The film, a sequel to Kahaani, will be directed by Sujoy Ghosh.

Interestingly most of these films were not big hits. Tum Bin and Rock On were average at the box office while Force was a flop. It was only Kahaani which managed to get a hit tag. It clearly indicates that these sequels are likely to struggle for an initial.

Which film will be a bigger hit?

I have never commented on your website. Just wanted to drop a note that you guys have screwed up the website “totally” with this new monetization effort. I have seen inline ads and ads on the side but what is funny with your site is that ads pop up when you open an article. Apparently, the new site is like a landmine. Wherever you touch, an ad pops up.

Congrats on screwing up your “once” neat and clean website. Have fun making money while you lose true admirers.
