Tubelight Day 1 Box Office Collection Update: Salman Khan starrer Tubelight is unarguably the biggest release of 2017 so far. The film is directed by Kabir Khan who earlier delivered two blockbusters with Salman Khan. However this time the initial buzz and hype are not that much high. But still, it is expected that Tubelight will manage to end the dull phase at the box office. Let's check out Tubelight collection update for the 1st day.
Tubelight is released in 4350 screens in India. This is one of the biggest releases of Bollywood and the screen count is in the same range as Salman's last Eid release. However, the early trends are suggesting that the opening is not up to the mark.
The overall occupancy in the morning shows was in the range of 35% in most of the circuits which is a below average start. Delhi/NCR belt has opened well as there are housefull shows at places. But the rest has not fared that well. The Mumbai and Gujarat circuit has opened very low as the occupancy is even lower than some films of 2017. Even mass belts have started low though that was given due to the average promos. Data from single screens is awaited and one hopes that it has fared better there.
Central India is also not doing good with just 20-25% occupancy in the morning shows. The traditional Hindi markets in North India are poor and lagging behind other biggies. It will need to show huge growth in the noon and evening shows. The film has the potential to pick up but for that word of mouth is crucial. As of now, Tubelight collection is heading for an average day. More data will be updated later.

In terms of occupancy, Tubelight has recorded one of the lowest openings for a Salman Khan starrer in recent times. It is even lower than Shahrukh Khan starrer Raees which had a clash too. An above average opening was expected but this has fallen below expectations.
Still, if we consider the pre-Eid period and the response to promos, then it is just about decent. Also, the screen count is huge which will ensure a reasonable opening day. But it will need to show a big jump over the weekend to take benefit of Eid on weekdays.
Single Screens Update:
Tubelight has opened lower in single screens. Though it was kind of given as it was not a typical Salman film. Generally, his films tend to have a bumper opening in single screens and mass centres. Overall occupancy is in the range of 35% which is the third highest of 2017 after Bahubali 2 and Raees.
Noon Shows Update:
Tubelight has picked up in the noon shows especially in North India where it is recording up to 60% occupancy in multiplexes. North is the least pre-Eid affected region and also war films generally fare well here. On the other hand, Tubelight has also faced drops at some places which is considered a normal trend for biggies. But here it has not got that much of an initial which can be an issue. The growth in the evening will come for sure but it should be at the high levels for a good opening day. That can be a tough task looking at the early reports.
Evening Shows Early Reports:
Tubelight has witnessed some jumps in the evening shows in North belts. However a big push, which was required, is missing. This can be due to the average public talk. As of now Tubelight is heading for just a reasonable day. It has to cover a lot of ground over the weekend for even recovering costs.
