Aishwarya Rai starrer Sarbjit has a reasonable start at the box office. The film did manage to improve after a poor start. There was some growth in the evening shows also which helped Sarbjit 1st day collection to go slightly higher.
As per the official figures, Sarbjit 1st day box office collection is 3.69 crores. The film had a poor opening in the morning shows. The overall occupancy was 15%. As expected, the opening was better in North India but even here the start was not up to the mark. As the day progressed, it showed decent growth. The occupancy in the evening shows was around 30-40%.
Sarbjit 1st day collection is lower than Aish's last release Jazbaa which was action drama film released in 2015. The film was released on over 1300 screens. The makers tried too hard to promote the film but it had pretty less buzz before the release. Anyway it is the 15th highest opening day of 2016.
The early reports are mixed for Sarbjit and reviews are also mixed. The film has a chance to score in the North India as the content is there. But for that, it has to show big growth over the weekend. The costs are on the lower side and it can recover cost if it can manage to get close to 30 crores.
