Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced his next project which will hit the screens on 15 December 2017. There has been much speculation about his next directorial after the success of Bajirao Mastani.
As per the media reports the director will make an anti-hero film about Sultan Alauddin Khilji and his obsessive love for Queen Padmavati of Mewar. Interestingly, Bhansali had earlier helmed an opera on this story, which was screened in Paris and Rome. The film is tentatively titled ‘Padmavati’. A source says, “Sanjay has always loved this all-destructive romantic tale. Alauddin was a genius who was shrewd and ambitious. He was absolutely smitten by Rani Padmini’s bewitching beauty and unmatchable intellect. This film will be about the queen’s courage to fight her undefeated nemesis.”
As far star cast is concerned, we reported that Bhansali approached Salman Khan for his next. But the plate of Sultan’s actor is already full with multiple releases. If Salman does not give his nod, then the Padmavati will feature Ranveer Singh as the lead role.
The confirmation has been made by Bhansali’s production. An official announcement will be made soon.
