Sanjay Dutt is a free man now. At exactly 8.40 am, a bearded Sanjay Dutt with a tilak on his forehead stepped out of the iron gate dressed in blue shirt and denims clutching onto a bundle of documents and bag hanging from his shoulders. Once out, Sanjay Dutt kept his bag and touched the free ground with his hand and turned back looked at Yerwada Central Prison and saluted the guards.

Waiting outside to receive him were Rajkumar Hirani and wife Maanyata. The actor greeted the waiting media and was soon whisked away in a car to the airport from where he will take a chartered flight out to Mumbai.
On his release, Sanjay Dutt told reporters at Pune airport that it was ‘not an easy walk to freedom’. “There is no easy walk to freedom, my friends,” according to news agency ANI.
He further thanked his fans for their love and support. “Unke (fans) support ki wajah se mai yahan hoon,” added Sanjay Dutt.
