Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Review:

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is the most awaited film of 2015. It stars Salman Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Neil Netin Mukesh and Anupam Kher in the lead roles. Directed by Sooraj Barjatya, it will release on 12 November.

Salman Khan and Sooraj Bajrtya are returning together to silver screens after almost 17 years. The combo has given us huge blockbusters like Maine Piyar Kiya and Hum Aapke Hain Kaun. The promos and msuic has been received well so the expectations are rock solid and only sky is the limit. Let’s move on to PRDP review to find out if it lives up to the expectations.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Review – Salman Khan

Okay so the film tells the story of a royal prince Vijay, who is born with riches and power. He cannot take all the responsibilities of his kingdom and wants to lead a simple life. In the meantime his step brother Niranjan (Neil Netin Mukesh) plans to steal the throne from him. For their evil they use her sister (Sawara Bhaskar) whom Vijay loves the most.

Things got changed when the Vijay finds out the common man Prem (Salman Khan) who looks exactly like him and they change their identities with each other temporarily.

Prem Dilwala is a happy-go-lucky and innocent man who does a stage drama Ramleelas. Whatever he earns, he donates to a charitable fund which is run by a princess named Maithili (Sonam Kapoor). Prem is attracted to her due to her nature, how despite she being a princess, leads a normal life and is kind enough to help people constantly.

When Prem enters into the royal kingdom, he gets caught up in a cobweb of family drama. What follows next, is dramatic, visually grand and a test of love and relationships.

The story looks good on paper but it has not been handled properly. The movie has little or no plot till three quarters through the movie. The typical love story occurs between Prem (Salman Khan) and Mithali (Sonam). The careful and delicate direction of every moment of their falling in love (and the great songs, of course) takes care of the first half of the movie. The second half is boring in places but watchable. The climax should have been more sharp and dramatic.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Review: Direction, Editing, Screenplay

After so many years, Sooraj Barjatya has still that magic in his direction. He excells at romantic cinema. The scenes between Prem and Swara Bhaska show the love between brother and sister and can melt your heart. The sweet moments between Prem and Maithili are also fantastic as they hold your heart still for several minutes. The intricacies of love, from first attraction, to love slowly growing in a young girl’s heart to deep understanding are shown with intricate and realistic detail.

The one letdown is the screenplay by Sooraj Barjatiya. Some dialogues by Salman Khan seem to be exaggerated and forced. The sword fight between Salman and Neil Netin Mukesh has been choreographed very well.

The pace is decent overall but the film loses the grip in the 2nd half as there are some very boring sequences. Manikandan’s cinematography is breathtaking and the film is a visual treat with its larger than life sets. Music is the highlight of the film. All the songs have been picturised beautifully. People will be dancing to the tunes of these songs in cinemas.

Singh Is Bling Review: Star Performances

♦ Prem is back with a bang. Salman Khan excels and is flawless in each and every scene as a loving Prem. His infectious energy and charm makes Prem utterly irresistible. On the other hand he does well with Vijay’s character. But sometimes he tries too hard to be anxious.

♦ Sonam Kapoor has never look so pretty before. She just glows in every frame here. Her charming performance was simply intoxicating. Salman-Sonam share terrific chemistry.

♦ Swara Bhaskar is mesmerizing in the supporting role and often exhaust Sonam’s act. Neil Netin Mukesh does a decent job but could have done better.

What’s Hot:

♦ Prem
♦ Charming 1st Half
♦ Lead Pair Chemistry
♦ Salman-Swara Bond
♦ Visuals

What’s Not:

♦ Mediocre Screenplay
♦ Climax
♦ Stretched
♦ Out dated

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Movie Review: Verdict

On the whole Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is a decent entertainer. The film has high voltage of drama, innocent romance and some stylish sword battles. Watch it for Salman Khan’s extremely loving act as a Prem.
