Prem Ratan Dhan Payo Budget and Economcis:
There have been a lot of confusion about PRDP budget and economics. We have been receiving a lot of requests to reveal its original budget. Today we are gonna try to clear this confusion.
Before the release of PRDP, a one of film’s PR revealed that film was made on the budget of 60 crore and 20 crore were spent on marketing. While 57 crore have been recovered from satellite and music rights and film needs only 23 crore more to recover the investment. This was obviously false.
Few days back, there were reports in the sections of media that the budget of PRDP is 235 crore. And it is impossible to recover this high investment after the under-performance of the film. It will be a suicidal decision to make a family drama on this high cost.
So what is the real budget and why producers did not reveal it? Let’s find out.
We have done a lot of research and have taken a figures from a lot of sources. Here is our take on budget.
P & A
Salman Khan has not charged for this film as he has taken the satellite rights. But we cannot add into the budget in that sense. Do remember that it has nothing to do with production cost and distributor share. So we can say that Salman Khan’s fee in the budget has been compensated by satellite rights (which is one of recovery option). So PRDP has to recover around 125 crore.
Now let’s take a loot at PRDP recovery.
The film has done around 300 crore business in worldwide with distributor share of over 140 crore. Thus film has generated healthy profits for producers.
Rajshri has sold PRDP to Fox Star Studios in 140 crore. So even Fox Star Studios will earn decent profits.
Most of film makers provide the figures of the budget before the release of film. But PRDP has not done so. The reason might be because people’s expectations would have become extremely high then. They would have expected a masterpiece film.
