There was not any major Bollywood film releasing this Friday. The small films Phobia, Veerappan and Waiting hit the screens today. There was also a Hollywood release Angry Birds. Unfortunately all the Bollywood films have opened to a disastrous start. And it was the Hollywood’s Angry Birds which has outclassed all other releases in terms of occupancy.
Ram Gopal Verma’s Veerappan was the most known release but it has opened to 7% occupancy in the morning shows. The film has only chance to score in Maharashtra as it has a negligible start in North India. It will collect less than 1 crores on its opening day.
Phobia is also looking to be disastrous with the occupancy of less than 5%. Third release Waiting received a lot of acclaims but it also has a poor start eve though the screen count was lower.
Angry Birds has a better start at the box office as the film has 20% occupancy. It will have higher collections than all new releases combined. It can show growth over the weekend and will be the first choice for moviegoers this week.
