Aamir Khan is gearing up for his upcoming Diwali release Thugs of Hindostan. The Vijay Krishna Acharya directorial also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh in pivotal roles. In the movie, Aamir will be seen as playing the rebel Firangi Mallah who will be up against Khudabaksh Azaad.
In a recent interview, Aamir was asked about playing such an unconventional character, the actor stated, "It's my toughest character till date. It will be challenging for the audience as well because there will be times when they will not like me. I'm hoping that people enjoy the character and take him for what he is. It's a very unusual hero. I have not seen a hero like that in Hindi films."
There have been many comparisons made between Thugs of Hindostan and Pirates of The Carribean. Even the lead characters Firangi and Jack Sparrow (played by Johhny Depp) looked similar.
On being quizzed about being compared to Jack Sparrow, Aamir commented, "Intrinsically, they are both similar characters because dono badmaash hai. I personally feel and hope that when you see Firangi then you will forget Jack Sparrow. I don't think Victor wrote it based on Jack Sparrow."
It is interesting that Aamir Khan has brought up this comparison as Jack Sparrow is one of the most iconic film characters of all time. Will Aamir Khan be able to do justice with this role? We will find out soon.
