The actor Om Puri who passed away earlier this year, has been honoured at the 89th Academy Awards ceremony, during the In Memoriam montage. The segment, which pays tribute to stalwarts of Hollywood lost in the year past, saw Puri being honoured too. The actor’s filmography in the West includes movies like East is East and The Hundred-Foot Journey.
The segment was helmed by Grammy and Tony-nominated singer and songwriter, Sara Bareilles. However Om Puri has been completely forgotten at the Indian Awards shows as none of them has even acknowledged his work.
Nawazuddin Siddiqui took to Twitter to laud the Oscars and slammed Bollywood awards, He wrote, “@TheAcademy #Oscars paid homage 2 late #OmPuri, But in #bollywood award functions nobody converse single word for his contribution… SHAME (sic)”

Bollywood awards are most stupid shows with jokers roaming around. Where a Nana Patekar does not win award for Ab Tak Chappan but SRK wins awards for crap movies. Om Puri was one of the most versatile actor Bollywood ever seen.
Shame on fake award shows !!
