Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer Ki and Ka, which released on Friday, has received a good opening at the box office. The film has witnessed decent growth over the weekend, though the growth was limited on Sunday.
As per the official figures Ki and Ka Sunday box office collection will be in the range of 9.52 crore. The morning shows were rock solid and the film showed good growth as the day progressed. But later on Ki and Ka collection was affected by world cup final cricket match. The rom-com, directed by R Balki, had a limited release in India, and was targeted at audiences in urban centres. Hence, the growth on Sunday was also limited to 15 percent.
Ki and Ka box office collection in 3 days will be over 25 crore. Ki and Ka 1st weekend collection is the third highest of 2016 though behind only Airlift and K&S. The concern can be that trend is not that strong over the weekend which was the case in Kapoor and Sons or Neerja. So hold on weekdays has become all important. The film has also fared reasonably well in small centers as Arjun Kapoor commands a good following there.
Directed by R Balki, Ki And Ka is based on gender role reversal, where Kareena essays the role of Kia, a career-oriented woman, while Arjun essays the role of Kabir, a house husband. The film is about the relationship between the two and how the society sees it.
