Ki and Ka 1st Day Box Office Collection
The only Hindi film release this weekend, R Balki’s romantic comedy Ki & Ka, starring Arjun Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan, has done well at the box office despite taking a slow start.
The film was released in 1650 screens in India and 500 screens overseas. As per the official figures Ki and Ka collection on its first day will be around 7.30 crore. The film had a low opening in the early shows, with an average of 15-20% registered occupancies. Thanks to the immense pre-release buzz, the film improved big time in the evening shows as the occupancies was as high as 60%. Ki and Ka 1st day collection will be 3rd highest opening day of 2016. The film has beaten Kapoor and Sons, Wazir, Jai Gangaajal and Neerja. It is in the same range of what Kapoor and Sons collected on its first day.
Ki and Ka box office collection is good on its day 1. In fact it is much better than what it looks like at the start of day. But there was good growth in metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai and Banglore. These kind of films always have a chance to score in these cities. And also India’s compaign in the world cup has ended which gave a boost to Ki and Ka collection. Though rhe film has received mixed reviews and word of mouth.
Now Ki and Ka has to show around 25% growth on Saturday. Fortunately the film does not have huge cost so the recovery will not be an issue if it gets a decent run on weekdays. The other Hollywood release Kung Fu Panda 3 also fared well in India.
