Marathi blockbuster film Sairat earned a lot of praises this year and also became the first Marathi film to enter the Rs 100 crore club.

While many producers have expressed their desire to remake the film, it’s Karan Johar who has reportedly bought the rights. According to recent reports, Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has acquired the remake rights of Sairat and will be producing it along with the film’s original producers, Zee.

Reports further reveal that the basic storyline will remain the same. However, the work on the film’s script is in progress and will be tweaked a little. The remake of Sairati will have a completely different star cast and the film will most likely go on floors next year.

  2. Sairat was not brilliant as a piece of art. It worked mainly because of its music and emotional climax. Its rural feel helped it to connect with core Maharashtrian audience. I don’t think similar film will work with all India audience. Lot of changes have to be made.
