Jagga Jasoos Review by Bollywood Hungama
JAGGA JASOOS rests on the shoulders of Ranbir Kapoor. The actor, known for bringing freshness in each role, gets totally into the skin of his character and tries to bring something new this time as well. On the whole, JAGGA JASOOS is a badly written and very poorly executed musical. The film doesn’t offer any entertainment value for either children or adults. At the box office, the film will have a tough time.
Jagga Jasoos Review by Koimoi
Ranbir Kapoor as Jagga shows what he is capable of. He is a gem of an actor! Watch the film for Ranbir if not for anything else! I would highly recommend watching this musical with a fresh and interesting script and nice music. This is surely one of Ranbir Kapoor’s best performances.
Jagga Jasoos Review by Indian Express
In the near-three hours of the run time of the film there’s everything else, with Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif chasing bent spies, arms dealers, and sundry other smaller fry, while, of course, saving the world but it forgets to give us a story. At one point in the film, a character is made to ask : bore ho gaye na? The answer, of course, is : haan bhai haan.
Jagga Jasoos Review by Times of India
The person who keeps it entertaining is Ranbir Kapoor. He manages to make you laugh and tugs at your heartstrings by being goofy and gloomy as suddenly as required. Katrina Kaif has little to do but makes for a good sidekick to Jagga. Saswata Chatterjee’s vulnerability and Saurabh Shukla wickedness balance each other perfectly. Parts of Jagga Jasoos are greater than their sum. But there’s no reason you shouldn’t head to a theatre and investigate for yourself.
Jagga Jasoos Review by Hindustan Times
Ranbir Kapoor never drops one emotion and he is really sincere. He is the shining knight of this story, which demanded its protagonist to not look silly despite being an overgrown adolescent. It’s a cliché, but no other word can sum up Jagga Jasoos better: Cinematic. Well, that’s it. Jagga Jasoos is the most ‘cinematic’ film you have seen in the recent months. Plunge to never come out of the world of Jagga Jasoos.
Jagga Jasoos Review by Deccan Chronicles
With this film too, Ranbir Kapoor gives yet another stellar performance. One can’t take eyes off from the screen when he emotes. He is just too good to watch! While Katrina Kaif isn’t that good of an actor, but since the plot is so engaging that you wouldn’t even mind poker face Katrina trolling around with Ranbir, who completely steals the show. Though film has been in the news for all the wrong reasons, the final product compensates for it all. Catering primarily to kids, Jagga Jasoos is highly entertaining and a must watch this weekend.
Jagga Jasoos Review by NDTV
If Jagga Jasoos, for all its deviations, passes muster, it is largely due to a pivotal star turn that is worth its weight in gold and the heartily surreal touches that Basu imparts to this colourful, imaginative fantasy. It might take a while for audiences accustomed to more familiar generic idioms to get into the spirit of the film. Once you do it, it could be pretty easy to see that Jagga Jasoos has enough enjoyable passages to keep you hooked to its defiantly askew rhythm. But the line separating the two possibilities, be warned, is thin indeed.
Jagga Jasoos Review by Bollywood Life
I struggled to keep up with the narrative early on, despite liking the score and the songs, it was the over the top indulgence in every frame and scene that took away the joy of enjoying the small things. There is too much of sync and perfection in a lot of moments in the film. Jagga Jasoos is only worth a watch for Ranbir Kapoor’s class act. As a musical, the film falters on several notes.
Jagga Jasoos Review by DNA
It was meant to be a mega film but it turned out to be a mega mistake. You may go in with an open mind to see India’s first musical film. While it’s true to the genre, eventually the length will make your patience run out. You will be miserable if you are not a fan of musicals. Katrina Kaif is also horribly miscast and is awkward throughout the film. Ask yourself if you are ready to watch a script-less film with singing dialogues and there’s your answer.
Jagga Jasoos Review by Filmfare
Jagga Jasoos could have been so much more. But it just feels like a long and winding screenplay that tries to fit in too many clever ideas. It showcases a journey across the hills of India and the vast wilderness filled expanses of Africa too. But apart from a visual zing, the film manages little in terms of heart and emotion. Its also peppered with such rookie mistakes like a cheetah roaring like a lion and an ostrich laying an egg on the road. But then, it’s a comical, light-hearted film that’s supposed to entertain younger audiences. So may be the glitches can be overlooked. But all said and done, Jagga Jasoos doesn’t get its heart in the right place. And that’s just disappointing.
