Highest Grossing Bollywood Movies in China
China is world’s second largest market after USA for movies. The Chinese movie market is sized at $4.8 billion. But is very tough to enter because the Chinese government has capped the number of foreign releases in the country at 34 per year. Most of these films are Hollywood biggies and only a couple of Bollywood movies are able to find a slot every year.
In recent years, Shahrukh Khan’s My Name Is Khan was the first to release in China. But it was the popularity of 3 Idiots starring Aamir Khan that gave Bollywood movies a new lease of life in the neighbouring country.
After Dhoom 3, PK was released in 4,600 screens across China and surpassed all expectations by collecting 123 cr. Thus China became the only overseas country where a Bollywood film has crossed 100 crore. Happy New Year and Fan were big failures while Baahubali was a decent earner. An animated film Delhi Safari was a surprise hit in China despite being a failure in India.

It clearly proves that Aamir Khan is the only crowd puller in China. SRK tried his luck twice and failed. Though Salman Khan is yet to explore this market.
