Ranbir Kapoor is undoubtedly the finest actor from the younger generation. After Khans and Hrithik, it is perhaps only Ranbir amongst the current actors who has shown potential to take their place.
In Bollywood the term superstar is slowly becoming a thing of past. Other than Khans, none of the other actors has given them competition except Hrithik Roshan. However, Ranbir Kapoor seems like a beautiful promise to redeem that starry effect into Hindi movies.
He has given back to back failures including Besharam, Bombay Velvet and Tamasha. But still, the biggest directors in Bollywood are still eager to work with him. Soon he will be seen in Karan Johar's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and the biopic on Sanjay Dutt helmed by Rajkumar Hirani.
Ranbir Kapoor has received a lot of accolades for his path-breaking performances in Rockstar and Barfi. The transformation from Janardhan to Rockstar Jordan was legendary. Even his act in Tamasha was highly under-rated. Young people can identify with his confused, lost characters in these films. What sets him apart from those having fancy six-pack abs is his sheer talent. Even as most actors of his generation are active on social media, Ranbir chooses to stay away from the limelight.
The actor has also given huge hits to the industry. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani is still the highest grossing film released on non-holiday. Even stars like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh are yet to surpass that mark. A niche film like Barfi crossed the 100 crore mark which is the only multiplex oriented film to do so.
As Ranbir celebrates his 34th birthday today, we wish him best of luck for his future.
