The last few months have been very goof for Bollywood. We have seen some huge successful films like Piku, Tanu Weds Manu Returns, ABCD 2, Baahubali and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The all eyes are now on today’s release Drishyam.

Drishyam was released today in 2365 screens in India. The early trends show that film has taken a below average opening.

Drishyam Morning Shows Report

The occupancy in the morning shows was around 15-20%. The opening is better in city based multiplexes while extremely poor in single screens or mass circuits.

Mahrashtra and CPCI has taken a better start than all over India. It is probably because the film more looks like a Mumbai circuit film. It has taken a poor start in Delhi, UP, Punjab and Rajasthan which was always expected

The film has also been affected by Bajrangi Bhaijaan in North India where the Salman starrer is still going strong. But in Mahrashtra Drishyam is dominating over Bajrangi Bahijaan. It will be interesting to see which film have better collection today.

Drishyam has shown a slight improvement as the day progressed. The growth has been only in Mumbai circuit while the North India remained dull. The occupancy in the afternoon shows were in the range of 25-30%. The key will be now evening and night shows. It has also been affected by Hollywood release Pixel which has huge occupancy in the multiplexes.

Check out the 1st day collection from some of the circuits.

1st Day 1st Show Collection

Jaipur – 86971 INR
Nashik – 24266 INR

Drishyam has collected 55 lakhs on Thursday in paid previews.

This is the lowest opening for any Ajay Devgn starrer sine Tezz which was released in way back 2012. His last six films have 10 Cr+ opening day irrespective of their lifetime collection. Drishyam will not be able to do that due to the genre as film has not mass appeal like his other films.
