Shahrukh Khan starrer Dilwale may have underperformed in India but it has done some unthinkable business in overseas markets.
Especially Dilwale’s box office performance in Malaysia has been record breaking. Its final gross in Malaysia is $3.62 million (25 crore). It is an unbelievable figure considering that Malaysia is not a regular Bollywood market. In the first weekend, “Dilwale” had minted Rs 26.68 lakh from 10 screens. But later on it went on to collect 25 crore.
It is also the highest grossing Indian film in Malaysia as it has beaten the record held by Rajinikanth’s Robot.
Shahrukh Khan enjoys some crazy fan following in Malaysia. Gerua song was also dubbed in the local language there. The local trade pundits of Malaysia feel that it has to do with the fact that Shah Rukh has a better fan following in Malaysia than other Bollywood stars.
