Detective Byomkesh Bakshy Movie Review

Expectations :

The trailer of the movie was received very well by the audiences. But it is the music which has let down the film a lot.As it is produced under Yash Raj Films so the film has been promoted on a large scale and generated a decent buzz.

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy Review:Story

The film is set in the Kolkata of the 1940’s.The era is marked by British rulers, foreign traders and Japneses airstrike’s in nearby Burma.Detective Byomkesh Bakshy is the story of a young Bengali private detective who has been hired to track the case of a missing chemist.

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy Review :Direction,Editing,Screenplay

Dibakar Banerjee has won two National awards and has directed critically acclaimed movies. This time he has tried his hand on a thriller.Detective Byomkesh starts on a promising note when Anand Tiwari hires Byomkesh Bakshy to find his missing father. The first half is very engaging and you have to be alert to catch up whats happening in the film. But in the second half the characters involved in larger than-life-problem that does not fit into a thriller film. The film is very rich in thrill qutioent and you have to keep guessing till the end.Screenplay is superb while editing is average. The cinematography is extremely beautiful and you have to admire their effort to recreate Kolkatta of the 1940’s.The music is a disapoointment but it does not matter for a movie like this.

Detective Byomkesh Bakshy Review: Star Performances

Sushant Singh Rajput portrays the role of Detective Byomkesh Bakshy with perfection. He has previously acted in romantic comedy movies as a guy next door. But he owns the role of a dhoti clad detective with such perfection that you have to admire his talent. His attitude towards the killers and his frustrations at the end are superbly captured.

The supporting cast has also done remarkably well like Anand Tiwari and Swastika Mukherjee.
