Highest Opening Day in Gulf 2016:
— Bollywood Arena (@BollyArena) December 23, 2016
Australia – 1.26 Cr
It is the highest opener of all time in Australia. Aamir Khan is quite popular there and holds the all major Bollywood box office records there. The collections from New Zeland were negligible as the shows were canceled due to the earthquake.
Overall Dangal has a very good opening in overseas markets. The Christmas weekend will be crucial now as last year Shahrukh Khan’s Dilwale literally stormed the overseas markets in December despite facing competition from Star Wars. Dangal will have a shortened weekend as Christmas is falling on Sunday.
