Dangal Box Office Collection in China: Aamir Khan starrer Dangal was released in China today. The film has set the opening record for Indian films despite the fact the film was boycotted by the chain of the biggest multiplexes in the country.
As per the official figures, Dangal 1st day collection in China would be around $2.05 million which equals to 13.19 cr. The film has smashed PK record by almost three times which opened to 5.7 crore back in 2015. It has also crossed the lifetime collection of all Indian films in China except Dhoom 3, 3 Idiots and PK. The word of mouth of the film is excellent as reported by the Chinese press. Also, the reviews are phenomenal on Chinese movie rating websites.
Dangal opened to 7000 screens which were higher than PK’s 4,000. But the film was reportedly boycotted by Wanda, which dominates cinemas in second and third-tier towns, essentially blanked out the film from its 3,000 screens around the country.
Aamir Khan’s PK held the record for the highest grossing Indian film in China as it collected 120 crore. It is speculated that Dangal will break this record and can go on to do $40 million business. Also, it will soon surpass PK worldwide collection to become all time number on Bollywood film.
Highest Grossing Indian films in China:
PK – 123 cr
Dhoom 3 – 24.0 cr
3 Idiots – 16.80 cr
Dangal – 13.19 cr (1 day only)
Delhi Safari – 10.65 cr
Bahubali – 7.54 cr
Happy New Year – 1.68 cr
My Name Is Khan – 1.49 cr
The big question will be if Dangal box office collection in worldwide can cross 1000 crores. The film needs 256 crores from markets of China and Taiwan. It has the potential as China has a large number of screens so it can remain in theaters for quite some weeks depending on word of mouth. Thus Dangal can be the first Bollywood film to do 1000 crores at the worldwide box office. While another Indian film Bahubali 2 will cross 1000 cr this weekend.
