Bombay Velvet is a period crime drama film directed by Anurag Kashyap. It features Ranbir Kapoor & Anushka Sharma in the lead roles while Karan Johar will play the role of villain. The film is scheduled to release on 15 May 2015.
We have earlier given predictions for Gabbar Is Back and Piku which turn out to be accurate. Now we will talk about box office prediction of Bombay Velvet.
Bombay Velvet is the riskiest film to predict as it can go either way.We have no doubt that content will be good as Anurag Kashyap is one of the finest directors in Bollywood. But the question is will that content be liked by the general audience who watches film for just casual entertainment.
Anurag Kashyap has said that Bombay Velvet is his most ambitious project and he wanted to enter into mainstream commercial cinema with Bombay Velvet. But we think he should have taken some other script as the general audience may not be interested to watch a film set in 1960's.Though the multiplex audience will go to watch in huge numbers.
♦ Ranbir Kapoor Star Power
♦ Critical Appreciation
♦ Fresh Cast
♦ Good Early Reports
♦ Delayed Film
♦ Low Buzz & Hype
♦ Lacks Chartbuster Songs
♦ Big Budget
♦ Negativity About film In Media
Its Ranbir Kapoor first release in two years and his fan base is mostly from urban class so they will surely go to watch this film. The first trailer of the film was not received well so the second trailer was released.Music of the film has also not been popular though it is growing up.The film has been promoted well and has received tremendous response from people who have watched this.
Bombay Velvet will open good due to the star power of Ranbir Kapoor.Roy released this year opened huge just due to the cameo of Ranbir Kapoor. After a reasonable opening the film should sustain well at weekdays. And for that content should be accepted by audience. The problem for Bombay velvet is that its budget is on the very high side.So it should run for good two-three weeks. The film will also face competition from Piku which has been rocking at the box office.
Day 1: 10 Crore
First Weekend: 35 Crore
