Bahubai 2 has finally arrived and has taken the nation by storm. While 100 crore lifetime is considered a benchmark for many films, Baahubali 2 has surpassed the mark in just one day.
The largest online entertainment ticketing platform, BookMyshow has claimed that Baahubali 2 has sold over $3.3 million tickets which is an all-time record.
“With this, the film which released in over 6,000 screens on Friday has created an all-time record high on our platform with advance ticket sales surpassing Baahubali 1 by over 350 per cent. A whopping 12 tickets were sold every second for Baahubali 2 all day on the day before the release,” it said.
With almost all theatres seeing a never before rush for tickets, multiplexes hiked their ticket prices, that sold like hot cake even in the range of 500 to 1,600. Tickets at single screen theatres were in the range of 200 to 600.
The paid previews were priced at twice the normal ticket in the early morning shows. Not only big theatres and multiplexes, even small screens in city outskirts witness people waiting for hours to lay their hands tickets for the 1st day screening of Bahubali 2. The release was nothing short of a celebration. From crackers to specially designed t-shirts, confetti and even drums being played outside theatres, Bahubali 2 mania is all over India.
In Tamil Nadu, hundreds of disappointed fans who had queued up outside theatres for early morning shows had to return home after these screenings were summarily cancelled. Some theatres in Tamil Nadu are trying to squeeze in an early morning show at 4.30 am as the sixth show during the weekend to cash in on the Bahubali 2 craze. The state had already seen unprecedented advance bookings for Baahubali 2 tickets, with most shows being sold out till 2 May.
Releasing on 6500 screens across the nation and most of them going houseful on Friday, despite being a working day, Baahubali: The Conclusion is showing all signs of being the biggest film ever made in the Indian cinema. The film has gone on to collect massive 100 crore plus on the opening day which is an all time record.
Baahubali 2 has also made India proud in overseas markets. It has become the first Indian film to debut at number 1 at the USA box office by beating Fast and Furious 8.
