Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan prove that their pair means a bona fide success. Shashank Khaitan gives you a movie that you can relax with family and friends on an extended Holi weekend. Go watch it especially for Varun Dhawan!
Badrinath Ki Dulhania Review by Koimoi
Badrinath Ki Dulhania is a suitable watch for those who enjoy Bollywood rom-coms. It will make up for a perfect breezy watch for the weekend. Alia-Varun once again show, they are the new-age Raj-Simran. A 3/5 for it.
Badrinath Ki Dulhania Review by Indian Express
Alia Bhatt is pitch-perfect as dulhania with a mind of her own. Varun Dhawan impresses as a boy-struggling-to-be-a-man. Together, they offer us a flavourful romance which takes down patriarchy. A couple of times, the film’s let’s hear-it-for-the-ladies comes off as simplistic, but overall, the film works as a flavoursome romance with a pair which grows into each other, and with each other.
Badrinath Ki Dulhania Review by Times of India
Together, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt are the best thing that could have happened to our screens. The beautiful effortlessness of their onscreen companionship plasters a grin on your face. Dhawan as Badri is adorable; you instantly take to him. He even pulls off some high-drama scenes impressively. Bhatt, unsurprisingly, gives it her all, and her sincerity comes through. But her accent, casually swinging between Juhu and Jhansi, is bothersome at times.
RSVP Yes to this wedding; it’s grand, with good music, great people and delicious food for thought.
Badrinath Ki Dulhania Review by Deccan Chronicles
The film is surely better than Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania in many ways. Set in small cities Jhansi and Kota, the film highlights the sensitive issue of dowry which still exists. Overall, Badrinath Ki Dulhania is a one time watch which has humour, social message, good looking actors and high degrees of emotions.
Badrinath Kir Dulhania Review by Hindustan Times
This film may not offer a substantial take on any cause, but it is one of the many that take the debate forward. Being mainstream will only help it. Badrinath Ki Dulhania remains the breeding ground of love between its two leads. It’s a Dharma film after all.
Badrinath Ki Dulhania Review by Zee News
‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ turns out to be a complete entertainer. Keeping in mind the Holi spirit and festivities, the movie not only brings smiles on your faces but also forces you to question meaningless traditions and other social evils. In the flick, Varun Dhawan shines as an innocent lover while Alia makes an impact with her firm attitude. The film also carries the fragrance of Indian small towns in its heart.
Badrinath Ki Dulhania Review by Pinkvilla
There are several humorous moments between the sturdy supporting actors which salvage the odds. Varun gets a standout one when he buys a kamino (kimono) for Alia. Do you watch it? Yes. For the point it makes. For Alia, who sparkles as a no nonsense, all business beauty. For Varun, who makes all the effort come together in the end. Let’s not underrate the boy. He can do it all, be gritty, act fabulously, be his character and all of it while dancing like a star. May be there is already a superstar here.
Badrinath Ki Dulhania Review by Khalid Mohamad
Like it or nought, in the process the outcome is a cat’s cradle of confusion, an awkward blend of a romcom and a post-feminist tract. Truly, at every twisteroo of the plot, there’s more confusion than clarity. For Mr Dhawan, Ms Bhatt and the effort to be cause-oriented, Badrinath Ki Dulhania gets half-a-star above average. Go for it, especially if you’re game for shuddering for 140 minutes under a multiplex blanket.
